Hello beautiful mamas! Welcome back to MamaExpert. If your baby has suddenly turned into a fuss-machine and you’re left puzzled as to why, we might have an answer for you.  That’s right, your baby could be teething. Let's explore the 10 most common signs your baby is teething, so you can swap the guessing for comforting. Ready to become an expert in teething? Let’s get started!             1. Excessive Drooling   One of the earliest signs of teething is an increase in your baby's drooling. Your baby's body produces extra saliva to help lubricate the tender and swollen gums. This might result in constantly wet bibs and onesies. Keep some cloths handy to keep your little one comfortable and dry.   2. Chewing on Everything   If your usually placid baby suddenly starts chewing on anything they can get their hands on, teething could be the reason. This includes their fingers, toys, or even your fingers! The pressure from biting can offer them some temporary relief from the dis

How to Manage Morning Sickness?

Here are 12 Effective Solutions

Hello there, new mom! If you're grappling with morning sickness (which doesn't respect the morning time boundary, by the way), we're here to lend a helping hand. A vast majority of pregnant women, up to 80%, go through this queasy period. However, it doesn't mean you have to endure it in silence; there are several ways to soothe stomach turbulence.

Though the exact hormones that bring about morning sickness aren't pinpointed, doctors speculate that a surge in human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and progesterone levels are likely culprits. Take comfort in knowing that these uneasy symptoms aren't harmful to your baby, and most women find relief early in the second trimester.

The onset of morning sickness symptoms usually peaks between the 8th and 10th weeks of gestation and tends to dissipate by the 16th week, explains Jessica Costa, a certified nurse-midwife. However, the severity of symptoms varies among women, and the same woman might have different experiences in different pregnancies.

Now, let's focus on some remedies that can help you navigate this rough patch:

1. Regular Eating: Contrary to what you might think, an empty stomach can exacerbate nausea. Aim for small meals or snacks every few hours.

2. Avoid Certain Foods: Greasy, fatty, and spicy foods often exacerbate nausea. Instead, opt for bland foods to help alleviate the queasiness.

3. Protein-rich Foods: Foods high in protein provide long-lasting relief from nausea compared to foods high in carbs or fats.

4. Sour Flavours: If you can handle it, try some sour candies or citrus fruits which may help reduce your nausea.

5. Stay Hydrated: Balance your fluid intake to avoid dehydration and a bloated feeling. Experiment with lemon water, ginger ale, or fruity tea if plain water isn't appealing.

6. Remain Upright: Try to stay upright after meals to prevent stomach juices from rising and causing nausea.

7. Delay Brushing Teeth: Brushing immediately after eating might trigger gag reflex, so try waiting for about 30 minutes after your meal.

8. Avoid Pungent Smells: Strong odors, whether from food or perfume, can worsen nausea.

9. Pleasant Aromas: Certain essential oil scents such as chamomile, ginger, lemon, orange, and peppermint could potentially ease your nausea.

10. Motion-Sickness Band: This accessory targets the P6 pressure point on your wrist, helping to curb morning sickness.

11. Switch Pill Times: If prenatal vitamins exacerbate your morning sickness, try taking them at night instead.

12. Healthy Lifestyle: A balanced lifestyle, comprising adequate sleep, regular exercise, and fresh air, can be very beneficial in curbing queasiness.

However, if you experience troubling symptoms such as abdominal pain, difficulties urinating, fever, inability to retain food, vomiting blood, or weight loss, consult your healthcare provider immediately.

While morning sickness is undoubtedly challenging, remember that the hormones causing these feelings are simultaneously working to nurture your growing baby. But if these symptoms persist and are affecting your daily activities, don't hesitate to discuss them with your doctor.
